Medina is new to the Californian dream. At 14, she finds that being the outsider in the exclusive beach community of Palos Verdes is a nightmare. As her parent's marriage disintegrates, Medina's consolation is to take up the challenge of surfing bigger waves, and taking bigger and bigger risks.
