Modeling, Functions and Graphs: Algebra for College Students by Katherine Yoshiwara
This text incorporates the benefits of technology and the philosophy of the reform movement into intermediate algebra. In keeping with the NCTM and AMATYC standards, the authors introduce the techniques of algebra in the context of simple applications. The text places an early and consistent emphasis on functions and graphing to develop mathematical models. Graphing calculators are incorporated into the presentation wherever possible to enhance understanding. This approach provides an alternative to the conventional intermediate algebra course as a more effective bridge from developmental courses into precalculus.
