This is the 4th year I have taught Pain Control in Dentistry and the first year I have used the textbook Local Anesthesia for Dental Professionals, by KB Bassett, AC DiMarco and DK Naughton. I can say without reservation that this textbook is very teacher and student friendly with excellent color photos of injection technique, illustrations of concepts such as nerve impulse conduction and examples of dosage calculations that greatly enhanced the teaching and learning in my classroom. The inclusion of a head and neck anatomy review at the back of the book was very helpful as were the Appendices included throughout the book. It is apparent that educators wrote this textbook and we are pleased to have changed to this text. I would highly recommend it to other dental and dental hygiene programs as well as to practicing professionals who strive for clinical excellence in the delivery of local anesthesia.
