Saiyuki: v. 2 by Kazuya Minekura
Continuing their journey West, Sanzo and company come upon a young woman doing laundry who laughs heartily at the antics of the quartet, whose humorous bickering belies a deep affection all of them share. Not wishing to appear rude, she invites them to stay at her home, an apology for finding them such a wonderful amusement. She recounts to them the story of her lover, a Youkai who succumbed to the madness, and for whom she waits faithfully to return. It sounds like an average tale of love in a tumultuous world, until she mentions her lover's name, Jien, the name of Gojyo's older brother. Perhaps it's just coincidence, but could it be that he might be reunited with his kin?
