The Introductions to these books are veritable teaching courses in themselves, and the notes for each song provide an immense amount of preparatory guidance on how to approach it. * Clare Stevens, The Singer, June 07 *
OUP's Voiceworks series, edited by Peter Hunt, now consists of eight volumes, and all have rightly been highly acclaimed. Junior Voiceworks 2 will be welcomed with enthusiasm by teachers and choir directors whose copies of Junior Voiceworks 1 are perhaps falling apart through overuse. Like its predecessor, this one is edited by Kevin Stannard, who has found, or in some cases written, a delightful selection of unfamiliar songs aimed at primary schoolchildren. The collection is international in flavour and includes a mixture of playground rhymes, folk songs, traditional and contemporary repertoire in a wide range of moods and styles. It is more of the same, but when the product is so good, who could possibly complain? * Clare Stevens, The Singer, June 07 *
Once again, attention is given to the holistic development of singing, with guidance and advice on warm-ups, teaching and performance . . . With the current emphasis on primary singing this resource has appeared at a very convenient moment . . . Put it on your wish list this year. * Ian Shirley, Primary Music Today, September 09 *
