Caught up by chance in the aftermath of a riot between Communist and Fascist agitators, a cool, self-absorbed doctor is drawn to the mysterious Anna, whose injuries she treats. This meeting begins a course of action which will threaten the doctor's habits, relationships and trust in human nature.
