To be Honest with You by Linford Christie
Born and brought up in Jamaica, Linford Christie moved to West London when he was seven. In this book, he writes both of his time in Jamaica and his life and school days as a black kid on London's streets. It was only at the age of 25 that he started major training, and a year later that he won his first international race. Among the numerous awards he holds are the BBC Sports Personality of the Year 1993 and the European Athlete of the year. In 1995 he should complete in all the major Grand Prix and in 1996 in the Olympics. A short autobiography was published in 1990, but here he reveals much more of his own life and his views on the world of international athletics, on race and religion and brings out the real man behind the public image.
