Elizabeth's children thought she was mad when she moved from the States to England when her husband died. But her quilt shop in Bath does good business, and Max, who runs the investigating agency upstairs, occasionally conscripts her to help him out. The new case is a murder investigation: the police have no leads, and the dead man's parents want to know who killed him. Max's attentions are elsewhere - as usual, a woman is involved - and Elizabeth seems to be on her own in this one.
