East End West End by Lord Delfont
Born in Russia in 1909, Barnet Winogradsky grew up in the East End of London. While both his brothers, Lew and Leslie, changed their names to Grade, he picked Delfont and at 12 became a dancer. He and his partner would open the first half of the vaudeville bill, and occasionally the second, but as they never topped the bill he became an agent and impressario. Throughout his career he has presented well over 200 shows, and brought over the biggest stars from abroad. He presented the Royal Variety performance for 25 years, went into film creating "The Go-Between", "The Deerhunter" and "The Jazz Singer", and in 1983 he led the biggest management buy-out in compnay history. This is his autobiography.
