In these titles, two animals loved by children - a cat and a dog - are used to introduce young children to the world of fine art. Each book features paintings by artists from contrasting schools and cultures. In every picture a cat or dog can be found, sometimes in the most unexpected place. This activity provides the starting point for further conversation about the paintings - their different colours, contents and styles - and encourages children to take their first steps to an appreciation of art.
