The Lion Classic Aesop's Fables by Margaret McAllister

Aesop's Fables have much to teach, and have provided inspiration for children's books through the centuries and around the world. Their wisdom is welcomed by librarians and book lovers, as an essential addition to the bookshelf. In this highly illustrated collection, Margaret McAllister turns her pen to retelling these great stories. Stylishly written, Margaret covers all the best-loved fables as well as those that are less well-known. Along with its distinctive selection of stories - 28 in total - this collection is set-apart by its sensitive illustrations from Amanda Hall, whose graceful depictions of people and animals bring these fables alive. Timeless in its presentation and full of lasting values, this stylish hardback is a perfect gift for children to treasure and enjoy.

About Margaret McAllister

Margaret McAllister is the author of over forty books for children, from funny things for under fives to teen fiction and everything in between - animals, history, funny, scary. For Lion she has written vivid re-tellings of Bible stories and tales of the saints, and her newest book, The Good Thing About Bad Days is to help young readers through the tough times. Margaret lives in beautiful Northumberland with her husband, a retired Methodist minister. They have lived in five different places in the North-East and Yorkshire while bringing up three children. She loves books, theatre, animals, walks in the countryside, welcoming visitors to Hexham Abbey and meeting up with friends. Amanda Hall is an award-winning illustrator, particularly renowned for her wonderfully decorative and colourful children's book illustrations. She excels at capturing the visual worlds of different cultures, their peoples, animals and landscapes as well as their spiritual traditions. Amanda exhibits her original illustrations at Chris Beetles Gallery St James's, London.
