Mitred Patchwork Summary

Mitred Patchwork by Margaret Wright

Beginning with a general introduction to patchwork, Margeret Wright explains the development of mitred patchwork, a recently developed form of patchwork, with information on materials, equipment and useful finishes. Preparation and the use of a variety of frames are given and diagrams and photographs explain the processes, stitches, edges and finishes. The versatility of mitred patchwork means that an endless kaleidoscope of colourful, textured patterns and motifs can be produced and instructions are given for making a variety of articles. For the more adventurous, guidelines for further development are given. Margaret Wright lectured at Loughborough College of Art and is now a teacher of design with special responsibility for textiles. Her work has been exhibited in Britain and Japan and she has written other books on embroidery and fashion.
