Textile Arts: Multicultural Traditions by Margo Singer
An examination of a variety of fabric decorating skills and their cross-cultural applications - embroidery and mirror work from the Indian sub continent, applique from Chile, mola work from Panama, tie and dye and tritil from West Africa, batik from Indonesia and a great variety of fabric folding, gathering and bias techniques from the European nineteenth century. It includes a selection of work both traditional and modern and also demonstrates working techniques, enmbroidery stitches and details of the method used.
