Atlas of Hybrid Imaging Sectional Anatomy for PET/CT, PET/MRI and SPECT/CT Vol. 3: Heart, Lymph Node and Musculoskeletal System Summary

Atlas of Hybrid Imaging Sectional Anatomy for PET/CT, PET/MRI and SPECT/CT Vol. 3: Heart, Lymph Node and Musculoskeletal System: Sectional Anatomy for PET/CT, PET/MRI and SPECT/CT by Mario Leporace (Clinical Radiologist, Cosenza Hospital, Italy)

Atlas of Hybrid Imaging of the Heart, Lymph Nodes and Musculoskeletal System, Volume Three: Sectional Anatomy for PET/CT, PET/MRI and SPECT/CT provides a guide for interpreting PET and SPECT in relation to co-registered CT and/or MRI. In this atlas, exclusively dedicated to heart, lymph nodes and musculoskeletal system, nuclear physicians and radiologists cover hybrid nuclear medicine based on their own case studies. The practical structure in two-page unit offers readers a navigational tool based on anatomical districts, with labeled and explained low-dose multiplanar CT or MRI views merged with PET fusion imaging on one side and enhanced CT or MRI on the other. This new format enables the rapid identification of hybrid nuclear medicine findings which are now routine at leading medical centers. Each chapter begins with three-dimensional CT and/or MRI views of the evaluated anatomical region, bringing forward sectional tables. Clinical cases, tricks and pitfalls linked to several PET or SPECT radiopharmaceuticals help introduce the reader to peculiar molecular pathways and improve confidence in cross-sectional imaging that is vital for accurate diagnosis and treatments.

About Mario Leporace (Clinical Radiologist, Cosenza Hospital, Italy)

Hospital doctor in the Department of Nuclear Medicine and Theranostics, Mariano Santo Hospital, Cosenza, Italy. Graduated in Medicine at the University of Rome Tor Vergata in 2001; Specialization in Radiology in 2005. Dr Calabria is a clinician in the Department of Nuclear Medicine and Theranostics, Mariano Santo Hospital, Cosenza, Italy. He graduated in Medicine in 2005 and finished his specialization in Nuclear Medicine in 2010. He was Head of the Department of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging in the Research Institute Neuromed in Southern Italy from 2010 to 2014; Researcher for the Italian National Research Council (CNR) in Southern Italy on hybrid PET/MRI scanner from 2015 to 2017. His specific scientific interest is aimed to deep the knowledge of the physio- pathological features of PET radiopharmaceuticals and their bio-distribution in order to verify further diagnostic applications. Another topic is the fusion of functional and anatomical images and the added value in patient care of hybrid scanners as PET/MRI, PET/CT and SPECT/CT in oncology and neurology. Eugenio Gaudio is Rector of Sapienza University since November 1, 2014. Since April 20, 2020, he is Counselor for the Ministry of University and Research for the health education field and relationships with the National Health Service. From October 2019 to March 2020, Rector Gaudio was President of Civis - A European Civic University, the new European university that brings together ca. 400,000 students and 55,000 faculty and technical-administrative personnel. Prof. Gaudio has a degree in Medicine and Surgery obtained from Sapienza University in 1980 and a master's degree in Internal Medicine (1985). After conducting research on Human Anatomy at Sapienza University from 1983 to 1986, Prof. Gaudio began teaching at the University of L'Aquila in 1987 and served as Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery from 1997 to 2000. In 2000, Prof. Gaudio returned to Sapienza as a Professor of Human Anatomy and began coordinating the PhD programme in Experimental and Clinical Hepatology (now Experimental and Clinical Hepato-Gastroenterology). Since 2011, Prof. Gaudio has coordinated the degree programme of the International Medical School. From 2008 to 2010, Prof. Gaudio was also Director of the Department of Human anatomy.
