Practical Statistics by Mary Rouncefield
This work is the product of a DES funded project at Sheffield University. Intended principally for use as a sixth form text, it introduces the various topics within A level statistics syllabuses through practical experiments. The emphasis throughout is on finding a statistical model to fit the situation under observation, and the book thus promotes an understanding of the application of statistics as well as motivating the student to master the theory. It is structured in such a way that teachers can select those chapters which are relevant to their syllabuses. This makes it suitable also for courses such as AS and B/TEC as well as for other subjects in which statistical techniques are extensively used such as geography, biology and business studies.
