Brief Therapy and Beyond Reviews

This is absolutely and unequivocally essential reading. It is perhaps the most coprehensive history in the development of practicing psychology by one of the giants who not only lived and developed it, but who best describes it. There are no other books that rival this book in its therapeutic relevance and comprehensiveness. - Nicholas A. Cummings, Ph.D., Sc.D., former President, American Psychological Association; President, Cummings Foundation for Behavioral Healthcare

Michael is one of the most versatile, integrative and creative psychotherapists of our time. In this collection you will meet his mind, heart, and actions beautifully synchronized. This is a great book - don't miss it! - Moshe Talmon, Ph.D., author of Single Session Therapy and Single Session Solutions; Faculty, Tel-Aviv University and Academic College of Tel-Aviv, Israel

Brief Therapy and Beyond is an extraordinary tour de force. Strongly recommended! - Bill O'Hanlon, M.S., songwriter and international workshop presenter; author of Do One Thing Different, In Search of Solutions, A Guide to PossibilityLand, Taproots, Shifting Contexts, and many more.

Hoyt's magnum opus is delicious: erudite, literate, funny, and wise -- a practical guide to the magic of rapid therapeutic rapport and change. How he knows all this is a mystery. There is nothing like it. Highly recommended! - Michele Ritterman, Ph.D., author of Using Hypnosis in Family Therapy, Hope Under Siege, and The Tao of a Woman: 100 Ways to Turn

When it comes to looking across different therapy schools to find what will make a positive difference to clients, and when it comes to presenting these findings with excitement and empathy, Michael Hoyt does it better than anyone else in the world. Absolutely brilliant! - Chris Iveson, B. Sc., Co-Founder, Brief Therapy Practice (BRIEF), London, England; co-author of Problem to Solution: Brief Therapy with Individuals and Families and Solution Focused Brief Therapy: 100 Key Points and Techniques

In Brief Therapy and Beyond, Michael Hoyt has masterfully chronicled the development of efficient and time-limited therapies. This greatest hits volume deserves a place on every professional's must-read list. - Monte Bobele, Ph.D., Professor Emeritus, Counseling Psychology, Our Lady of the Lake University, San Antonio, Texas; co-editor of When One Hour is All You Have: Effective Therapy for Walk-In Clients and One at a Time: Single Session Therapy by Walk-in or Appointment
