Born in County Cork, Michael McCarthy, a Catholic priest, now lives in Sherburn-in-Elmet, Yorkshire. His poems have been published in a variety of literary magazines and in 1997 he won the Patrick Kavanagh Award for Birds' Nests and Other Poetry. This is his first title for Barefoot Books. Giuliano Ferri graduated from the Art Institute of Urbino, Italy, where he specialised in animation. He has since worked as a full-time illustrator and his art has been exhibited worldwide, from the Pompidou Centre in Paris, to the Itabashi Art Museum in Tokyo. This is his second title for Barefoot Books, joining How Do Animals Say Hello? (1997).
