Sascha Lasserson: Portrait of a Teacher - Reminiscences of Sascha by His Pupils by Michael Lasserson
Sascha Lasserson came to London from Russia in 1914 and stayed on to become - over a period of sixty years - one of the greatest violin teachers in the country. A product of the amazing class of Leopold Auer in St Petersburg, and in this country he was the embodiment of the traditions and standards of that class. This book, an affectionate composite portrait of him by his pupils, describes him not only as a teacher but also as man and artist. It also provides fascinating portraits of some of his great friends and contemporaries at the St Petersburg Conservatoire.
