Courses on Geographical Information Systems (GIS) are now being taught in geography departments but many lecturers will not have been teaching this subject for long. This text uses a building block approach and assumes limited background in the subject; it includes basic cartographic and geographic principles throughout; and covers numerous applications for a wide range of uses and users. It should be of interest to both students and lecturers of geography.
