Paintings in the Uffizi and Pitti Galleries by Mina Gregori
The Uffizi and Pitti Galleries are treasure houses of the most well-known masterpieces in Italian and Northern Renaissance art including Botticelli's Birth of Venus, Leonardo's Annunciation, Durer's Adoration of the Magi and Titian's Venus of Urbino. The book contains these and nearly 1,000 other works from the two galleries, making this in essence a portable gallery with works from everyone from Cimabue and Giotto to Pollaiuolo, Breugel and van der Goes from the Northern Renaissance. Works by Caravaggio, El Greco, Rembrandt, Rubens and van Dyck are also featured. The two galleries are linked by an enclosed bridge that houses the largest collection of self-portraits in the world, and these are highlighted in this book.
