Praise for the first edition: Guru Dutt was a master. See the way he handled the camera, the actors and the lighting...The black and white movies always managed to capture the mood. Maybe the fascination for Guru Dutt has lasted for two reasons: his early death and that he made genuinely interesting films. If you see Pyaasa or Sahib Bibi aur Ghulam, the subjects are contemporary, it's not like, tabhi hota tha abhi nahin. (That was the old days, it never happens now.)
