Building Workplace Equality Summary

Building Workplace Equality: Ethics, Diversity and Inclusion by Nelarine Cornelius (Brunel University)

This book provides a new model of workplace equality based on capabilities theory. This approach identifies actions which organizations can take to evaluate and improve the ways in which they support equality for all their members and also helps ensure that individuals feel they are being treated fairly. Moving on from equal opportunities and diversity management approaches, this innovative book offers a new answer to 'what is equality' and provides new insights into how equality in the workplace can be pursued and achieved. Covering both theoretical debates and practical applications, the contributors use examples from organizations such as Honda, BP, the UK Police Service, the Australian Government, RTZ and Coca-Cola to demonstrate real-world practices. To reflect the broad nature of current businesses, the book covers both public and private organizations and discusses the international implications of workplace equality for multinational corporations both globally and locally.
