Faldo: In Search of Perfection by Nick Faldo
Nick Faldo, the celebrated golfer, describes his rise to multi-millionaire status as World No 1. A notorious perfectionist, during his career he has garnered many of golf's most glittering trophies, including 5 Majors - Open Championships in 1987, 1990 and 1992, and US Masters in 1989 and 1990 - and 29 European wins. In the past renowned as a steely, inscrutable professional on and off the golf course, recently he has assumed a far more relaxed and approachable posture, and is now far less hard on himself if his performance falls anywhere short of absolute perfection. His career earnings have recently exceeded the $10 million barrier - in 1992 Faldo earned #171 for every shot he played in Europe - while most of his #5 million annual income comes from lucrative world-wide endorsement contracts with Mizuno, Bridgestone golf balls, Audemars Piguet watches, Pringle clothes and Polygram coaching videos. His interests, however, are not merely confined to golf - he owns five cars, including two Porsches, which he drives in controlled conditions on a race-track; he has taken flying lessons; he owns a chalet in Switzerland; he's a big pop music fan and particularly friendly with Phil Collins.
