The first relates to free movement of workers within the European labour market - the legal and practical problems facing such workers and the solutions and proposed solutions. The second area covers sex discrimination and the third describes the development of rights at a European level, which create individual and collective rights enforceable in the national courts in the areas of redundancy, insolvency of employers, transfer of undertakings and health and safety at work. This work evaluates the EC's responses to challenges posed by creating a European labour market. Consideration is given of different approaches to labour market regulation and deregulation and the implications to both employers and employees of the European approach where it conflicts with domestic rules.
