World premiere - at the National Theatre, London - of an epic, twenty-character play by an up-and-coming Irish writer The play takes place over the course of a hot summer's day in an imagined area of present-day Belfast. We see a day in the life of over twenty inhabitants of the district as their stories interweave and collide. In a tour de force of dramatic writing, a whole world is evoked in a couple of hours. Scenes..., staged by veteran director Peter Gill, has its world premiere at the National Theatre in London in April 2003, following the success there of McCafferty's Closing Time last summer.

About Owen Mccafferty

Owen McCafferty was born in Northern Ireland in 1961, and lives in Belfast with his wife and three children. He was writer on attachment to the National Theatre Studio in 1999. His most recent work includes Mojo Mickybo (Kabosh, Belfast), Closing Time (accounted the best of the new plays presented in the 'Loft' season at the National Theatre, London) and Shoot the Crow (premiered at the Royal Exchange, Manchester in February 2003), all published by NHB.
