About Pamela J. Maraldo

About the Authors Pamela Maraldo, Ph.D., R.N., is chairperson of the board of the People's Medical Society. She was president and chief executive officer of the National League for Nursing for ten years, and is currently a professor at the Columbia University School of Nursing. She has also appeared on numerous national radio and television programs, including Talk of the Nation and The McLaughlin Group. The People's Medical Society is the nation's largest nonprofit consumer health organization. Its mission is to provide consumers with up-to-date health information. Its health care experts have published more than 70 health titles and are frequently seen on such television programs as Oprah, Today, and Good Morning America.
