On a particularly wet holiday in the Lake District, Peter Linney spent hours browsing through Wainwright's seven pictorial guides. From the date of owning his first Wainwright, Linney was impressed by the sheer quantity as well as quality of the information contained within those books. The editor of this book extracted the physical data from the books and input it onto a database which enabled him to create a substantial array of analyses which are presented in this volume.
