Joining the Seas: A Yorkshireman's Coast to Coast Walk by Peter Stubbs
An alternative to Wainwright's iconic Coast-to-Coast walk, this 150-mile trek across northern England focuses on some of the historic towns and villages, ruined abbeys and stunning landscape features of Yorkshire, voted third in the list of top 10 world regions to visit in Lonely Planet's Best in Travel guide for 2014. Beginning at Whitby the walk traverses the North York Moors, the Vale of York, the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the Yorkshire Dales and the northern edge of the Forest of Bowland, before finishing with a short hop through Lancashire at its narrowest point to reach Morecambe on the West coast. The walk has been divided into seventeen stages, varying in length from less than four to around 15 miles that can be combined to suit individual tastes.
