Summary

Never since the end of World War II have anti-Jewish sentiments gained such currency in France among so many different social groups. As the number of anti-Jewish incidents escalates, the anti-racist demonstrations that would ordinarily respond to them are nowhere in sight.

Rising From the Muck Reviews

This urgently awaited study of the rise of antisemitism in Europe must be read by all those who wish to denounce and fight its poisonous effects. -- Elie Wiesel
Rising From The Muck is an important and terrifying book, about Judeophobia, in France, in Europe, and spreading globally. In readable language Pierre-Andre Taguieff pushes us to ask that old question 'Can it happen here?'-and what can we do to stop it. -- Ben Wattenberg, American Enterprise Institute
...Pierre-Andre Taguieff shows how rapidly and thoroughly old-style racist prejudice against all Jews has taken on a new life. Who could have imagined how necessary and timely it is to restate basic humanist values, as this book does. -- David Pryce-Jones
Highly readable, clarifies the troubling situation with admirable precision. Taguieff is the author of several well-regarded books on nationalism and racism. In Rising from the Much he brings all of his impressive intellectual powers to bear on exposing an uncomfortable truth most Europeans are aware of. Although his is not the first study to exlpore the new anti-Semitism, it is the best informaed and most congently argued. Taguieff's detailed exposure of the political culture that has given rise to Judeophobia is therefore indespensable. * The New Leader *
This impressively written and presented treatise...is a frightening revelation of new trends and the informational resource to go to... * Library Bookwatch *
...Deserves special attention.... Taguieff brings to the subject far more intellectual rigor than one usually finds... * Moment Magazine *
