Clinical Haematology Summary

Clinical Haematology by R. D. Eastham

Designed to allow easy reference to key haematological facts, this book allows rapid assessment of laboratory results and an indication of the appropriate tests for both diagnosis and the assessment of a patient. The aetiology of certain conditions - pancytopenia, purpura in children, macrocytic anaemia - have been considered. Because of the rate of development in haematology, many new tests which are not, as yet, performed in routine laboratories, are described here. Details are also given of rare diseases which have interesting relationships with haemophilia - for example, von Willebrand's disease, which is connected with four syndromes.

Table of Contents

Normal red cell physiology; red cell abnormalities; haemoglobin and its disorders; peripheral white blood cells; bone marrow; bleeding and clotting; plasma coagulation factors; natural anticoagulants; platelets; fibrinolysis; bruising and bleeding disorders; thrombosis; anticoagulant therapy; tests used on bleeding and clotting studies; complement, circulating immune complexes, properdin; blood transfusion.
