This work is for people with a limited knowledge of gardening and garden design. A combination of stickers, cut-out sheets representing such materials as grass, gravel and decking, and acetate overlays on a grid plan of the garden, allows the reader to try out different garden schemes. Advice is given on plant selection, taking into account basic colour theory and the contribution made to an overall scheme by groups and single plants, and shape and texture. The plant directory gives instant access to the right plant for a specific need: reds and yellows to enliven a dull area, or cool blues and greens for a tranquil spot.
