In 1997, the colony of Hong Kong will be ceded by the British crown to the People's Republic of China. To capture Hong Kong in transition, 11 internationally prominent photojournalists spent two weeks on a publicized shoot in Hong Kong. The result is this book which visually presents the many cultures and subcultures of a city about to undergo a radical change. Among the photographers featured are Alex Webb, renowned for his use of colour, who sought out cemeteries, temples, dockyards and night markets, Eli Reed who photographed a deteriorated high-rise housing development that exists outside the law and is home to squatters, gangs, heroin addicts and many poor families and Jodi Cobb who provided aerial photographs of the city.
