The Dispossessed by Robert McLiam Wilson
This book provides a documentation of poverty and the homeless as photographed during the 1980s in Hackney and Whitechapel, Blackhill and Easterhouse, in the Falls Road and Ballybeen. The results of 11 years of punitive legislation against the poor, of right-wing "laissez faire", of macro economics and of the statistical disappearance of the unemployed are, according to the authors, going to persist into the 1990s. Robert Wilson won five literary prizes with his novel "Ripley Bogle" and Donovan Wylie's photographs are featured in "32 Countries".
