This Island Race by Rouleur
The British Isles has never before and will, most likely, never again host the number of top-quality races that took place on its roads in 2014. The Tour de France start in Yorkshire will remain etched on the memories of the millions of spectators who lined every roadside inch of the Grand Depart. Two days in the county produced some of the most spectacular imagery ever seen on a Tour, and Rouleur photographers were there to capture the wonderful scenes. The Giro D'Italia started in Belfast before wending its way down to Dublin, another Grand Tour to delight in. The Woman's Tour hit our roads for the first time and was a huge success immediately. The RideLondon-Surrey Classic drew thousands onto the streets of London and the Home County, both spectating and riding. We also celebrate the best of traditional races held on our shores: CiCLE Classic's gruelling off-road experience; the Lincoln GP and its brutal cobbled climb into the city; the national road championships and its annual battle to decide who will wear the red, white and blue; and the 25-mile time-trial championships, a strangely anachronistic event in the modern cycling world. Each race has its own delights, quirks and characters. Rouleur's renowned photographers and writers record them all. Featuring contributions from Ned Boulting, Timm Koelln, Jack Thurston, Robert Wyatt, Ian Cleverly, Richard Williams and Geoff Waugh.
