Love: The Joy That Wounds Summary

Love: The Joy That Wounds: :The Love Poems of RUMI by Rumi

An immortal voice speaks on the greatest poetic theme in this English-language selection of the works of Rumi. Enriched by the lush calligraphic illustrations of Arabic artist Lassa d Metoui, the poems bear remarkable power and emotional intensity, reflecting on the complexities of love, passion, pain, and faith. These songs of the spirit offer an intimate introduction to the poet's genius, as well as a sublime meditation on the mysteries of love.

About Rumi

Rumi, the great poet of Sufism, was born in Persia in 1207 and composed thousands of poems that are still recited during religious ceremonies today. He founded the order of the Whirling Dervishes of Sufism. Centuries after his death Rumi is the world's bestselling poet. Lassa d Metoui, a Tunisian by birth, exhibits widely and lectures on Arabic and Latin calligraphy. Jean-Claude Carriere is best known for his work as a screenwriter and collaborator with director Luis Bu uel; he is also the author of acclaimed works of fiction and nonfiction, including The Power of Buddhism, cowritten with His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
