He also knows a lot about them and this is obvious when you read his book. It is slightly larger than A4, some 240 pages and beautifully illustrated. The book has 14 chapters, appendices, glossary, and good references. It falls into three groups. Firstly, a collection of wonderful pictures of cathedrals. The second part is a description of how cathedrals were built and the tools that were used. The third is a resume of the transition from Operative to Speculative Masonry...

About Russell Herner

Russell Herner began researching cathedrals in 1969 and has collected primitive tools for over 50 years. He has been a Mason since 1962 and received the 33rd Degree in 1992. His two previous books are Stonehenge: An Ancient Masonic Temple and Antique Ice Skates for the Collector.
