About Samuel J. Sauls (University of North Texas, USA)

Samuel J. Sauls, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Radio, Television and Film at the University of North Texas, where he has been on the faculty since 1984. From 1984 to 1994 he was the Station Manager of the University radio station, KNTU-FM. He has a combined total of 15 years of experience in commercial and noncommercial radio, and also worked for 4 years in Saudi Arabia and 2 years in Germany. He serves on the Broadcast Education Association board of directors and is a Past President of the Texas Association of Broadcast Educators. His first book, The Culture of American College Radio, was published in 2000. At UNT, he is the RTVF Director of Graduate Studies. Craig A. Stark, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Communications at Susquehanna University, where he teaches courses in audio production, video production, mass media history, and critical issues in emerging media. He also serves as the faculty advisor for the school's radio station, WQSU FM. He has worked and taught in educational broadcasting for almost twenty years. Prior to entering the academic field he worked in commercial radio and video production as an on-air announcer, news and sports reporter, and broadcast engineer. He is active with several professional and academic organizations including the Broadcast Educators Association and is the author of several articles related to media studies.
