This work explores the rhetorical and stylistic power of grammar. Grammar is taught to advanced writers in order to make grammatical choices to their creative advantage. The text serves as an advanced grammar handbook and as a more conceptual guide to style. The open-ended exercises give students practice in making grammatical decisions and understanding their rhetorical consequences. The exercises also ask students to work on their own sentences and to look at those sentences in relation to the larger context and communicative power of their written work.
