About Shirley Darlington

Shirley Darlington attended West Kirby County Grammar School for girls, obtaining a State scholarship to study French at Reading University. She went on to work in the Education Department of the National Union of Teachers in London, editing journals and writing education policy pamphlets, briefings for MPs and articles for educational magazines. She previously wrote a booklet on equal opportunities for girls at the European Teachers Federation. Since retirement Shirley as been active in adult education and studying history and art history. She belongs to a creative writing group and reading group in Lewes where she lives.
