Puligny-Montrachet: Journal of a Village in Burgundy by Simon Loftus
The village of Puligny-Montrachet produces some of the greatest white Burgundy. The lives of its population of proprietors and workers revolve around the routines of the viticultural year. The author offers a glimpse of the inner life of the village; the daily round and pastimes of rural France: fires burning with winter prunings, the visit of the butcher's mobile shop, the talk of the local historian, the July 14 celebrations. The author also wrote "Anatomy of the Wine Trade" and "A Pike in the Basement".
