Inference Summary

Inference by Stephanie McDonald

Natalie Byron had a happy life in Glasgow. She had a steady job, supportive friends and a loving family. Or at least, she thought she did. The morning after a date, Natalie wakes up inside a strange house, in a strange bed, sleeping next to a man named Jamie who claims he is her boyfriend. Outside the window are rugged cliffs surrounded by endless sea. All her things are here. The clothes in the drawer are hers and so are the bottles of shampoo in the bathroom. But this isn't her life and Jamie certainly isn't her boyfriend. Fearing she's been kidnapped, Natalie flees, but not one person on the island will help her. When everyone around her insists that her life in Glasgow is nothing but a delusion, Natalie begins to doubt her own sanity. But there is one thing Natalie is sure of. She needs to get off this island.

About Stephanie McDonald

Stephanie McDonald is the author behind Inference, a novel which has been several years in the making. Born and raised on the outskirts of Glasgow, Stephanie discovered a passion for reading at a very early age and enjoyed creative writing as a child, harbouring dreams to one day become a published author. Fascinated and endeared by language, she gained an Honours Degree in Language Studies, specifically Spanish and French, and went on to forge a career in the Financial Services industry where she specialised in Risk intelligence. Aside from reading (mostly crime fiction and historical fiction), her hobbies are sketching, jogging and hill-walking. She got into writing initially by producing short stories and poetry, then in 2016 she wrote and self-published her first full-length novel, Learn to Let Go. Her new novel, Inference, is a foray into the mystery genre, with a very strong homage to her Scottish roots.
