Stuart Barker has written biographies of Niall Mackenzie, Steve Hislop, Barry Sheene and Evel Knievel. His TT Century: 100 Years of the Isle of Man Tourist Trophy was nominated in the 'Best Illustrated Title' category in the 2008 British Sports Books awards. He lives in Kettering, Northants.

Jefferies was the first man to lap the TT course at an average speed of 125mph, before pushing the outright lap record up to 127.49mph. He was the only rider to do the 'treble treble', winning three TT races each year for three consecutive years. The third generation in a bloodline of brilliant riders, David had a brief but meteoric career that also encompassed Grand Prix and World Superbike. Three-times British champion in the Powerbike Production, Triumph Speed Triple and British Superstock series. More than 5000 riders did a memorial lap of the TT course in 2004 to celebrate the gentle giant, with tens of thousands of fans lining the route.
