This text shows how the early years teacher can build on the child's natural enthusiasm for summer with a range of activities across the curriculum such as signs of summer, the sun, outdoor activities, summer food, clothes and holidays. Linking up with these activities is a photocopiable anthology section of action rhymes, poems, stories and songs, all based on the summer theme. In addition there are photocopiable activity sheets, plus ideas for displays and assemblies. A topic web links the activities to both the National Curriculum and the Scottish 5-14 National Guidelines.
