This first volume is dedicated to the initial phases of life cycle, i.e. raw materials and manufacturing phases of textile products. This book aims to cover the sustainable raw materials, technologies and processing methods to achieve sustainable textile products. There are plenty of raw materials available today to cater the needs of sustainable textiles and apparels including organic materials, recycled and biodegradable raw materials for textile applications. Similarly, many innovative methods to process textile materials to achieve sustainability in the supply chain along with various processing technologies to manufacture textile products sustainably. This first volume covers the titles of these areas in a comprehensive way.

About Subramanian Senthilkannan Muthu

Dr Subramanian Senthilkannan Muthu is working for SGS Hong Kong for its Global Sustainability Services as Eco-design Consultant after his doctoral research study from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong for the past 2.5 years. He finished his PhD dissertation entitled, Eco-functional assessment of grocery shopping bags with 14 scientific peer-reviewed scientific journal publications, 2 patents and 11 conference publications based on his dissertation to his credit. In total, he has authored more than 75 journal publications and numerous conference publications, over 10 books and 2 books of chapters. He serves various peer-reviewed journals in environmental and textile sciences as an editor/editorial board member and also as a reviewer. He is the editor-in-chief of Springer's Textiles and Clothing Sustainability Journal. He is the series editor of two book series for Springer namely - Textile Science and Clothing Technology and Environmental Footprints and Eco-design of Products and Processes.
