Working with Attachment Difficulties in School-Aged Children: Practical & creativeaspproaches to addressing social and emotional difficulties in schools. by Sue Jennings

Creative, playful approaches to working with emotional, social and behavioural difficulties in children who have experienced developmental trauma. This practical resource book provides a wealth of easy-to-use playful and creative activities, ideas and techniques to enable you to help younger children to enhance and build healthy relationships with their families and peers. Children who have experienced developmental and relational trauma will often experience social, emotional and behavioural difficulties including emotional dysregulation, social isolation, anti-social or extreme behaviours and consequent poor interpersonal relationships and low school achievement. Drawing on the latest developments in attachment theory and neuroscience, Sue Jennings explores how Neuro-Dramatic-Play and Embodiment-Projection-Role can use multi-sensory, rhythmic and dramatic play to enable children to better build relationships and regulate their emotions. This accessible and user-friendly collection includes practical and creative activities and exercises, photocopiable worksheets and appraisal, together with accessible attachment theory and the neuroscience of emotions and brain development.
