Modern Country Knits Reviews

For needleworkers, there's no such thing as too many patterns. Former news producer, now sheep farmer, Gibbs feeds into that need by asking a few knitting designers-some well known, some waiting to be discovered-to develop women's-wear items for others to reconstruct. The results, using Gibbs' yarns . . . show her styles to be traditional, with a twist. A straightforward cardigan picks up bursts of color. Shawls feature a surprising bit of lace or cables at the edges. Dresses, tees, tops, and accessories are shaded subtly, with figure-hugging shapes. Directions are well presented, including not only materials and color photographs but also graphs, stitch keys, and level of difficulty. -Booklist
