About Tim Delaney

Tim Delaney is an Associate Professor of Sociology at the State University of New York at Oswego. He holds a B.S. degree in sociology from the State University of New York at Brockport, a M.A. degree in sociology from California State University at Dominguez Hills, and a Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Nevada at Las Vegas. He regularly teaches courses on street gangs and shares his personal stories of gang research in Los Angeles and upstate New York with his students. Delaney has authored, co-authored, or served as a contributing author/editor on 14 books, to date. Among his publications are Connecting Sociology to Our Lives: An Introduction to Sociology (2012); Classical and Contemporary Social Theory: Investigation and Application (2012); Environmental Sustainability (2012); and American Street Gangs (2006). He has also published numerous book reviews, journal articles, encyclopedia articles and chapters in edited books. Delaney regularly presents papers at regional, national, and international conferences. His commitment to scholarly activity allows him to travel the world and learn first-hand the great diversity, and similarity, found among people from different cultures. Delaney maintains membership in more than a dozen academic associations, has twice served as President of the New York State Sociological Association, is listed in Who's Who in America, and is a charter member of the Wall of Tolerance.
