Castleton Caves by Trevor David Ford
This new book by Trevor Ford is the first full account of all the cave systems in the Castleton area. It includes the recent discoveries of Titan, Leviathan and the White River Series. Although the tourist caves are well known, the much larger group of 'wild' caves have their own story to tell, especially as they are now part of a Site of Special Scientific Interest, administered by Natural England. As in Trevor's Rocks and Scenery of the Peak District, this book is also written in layman's language rather than geo-speak. It includes a 32 page color section of images supplied by Paul Deakin - arguably the best underground photographer in the country. This book also provides an insight into the way cave explorers operate and what they have discovered - including the deepest known cave system in the country.
