Visual Communication for Landscape Architecture Summary

Visual Communication for Landscape Architecture by Trudi Entwistle (Leeds Metropolitan University, UK)

Visual Communication for Landscape Architecture demonstrates not only how and where a range of visual communication skills are needed to inform a design process, but also why they are essential in order to make presentations both informative and memorable. It illustrates how representational techniques can be sensitively applied in different contexts appropriate to a diverse range of design challenges, and encourages experimentation with contemporary techniques, both 2D and 3D. Developing a professional but creative design portfolio is explored in relation to creating e-portfolios and websites. A total of 12 contemporary case studies enable readers to contextualize the methods and techniques explored in each chapter through exploring real-life examples of winning projects by successful landscape architecture practices, making this title an inspirational resource for both budding and practising landscape architects.

Visual Communication for Landscape Architecture Reviews

This book is a visual delight, full of examples of how to illustrate and communicate good landscape architecture and urban design, and will be of benefit to graphic designers as well of course to landscape architects and architects ... logically set out ... practices what it preaches - the drawings and text are well presented ... an excellent entry level into the subject. -- Tim Hagyard * Urban Design Quarterly *
This handsome book does a superb job of explaining why we use visual communication a task which no other book on representation for landscape architecture has yet accomplished. Many gorgeous illustrations from a wide range of sources add richness and depth to this indispensable text. * Tim Waterman, Senior Lecturer, Landscape Architecture, Writtle School of Design, UK *
Well crafted and beautifully constructed, the authors have framed the book to adhere to the design sequence, detailing contemporary strategies and technologies for visualizing designed spaces. An excellent addition to any aspiring landscape architects library. * Ken Yocom, Assistant Professor, Landscape Architecture Graduate Program, University of Washington, US *
Visual Communication for Landscape Architecture is a rich and inspirational resource for both budding and practising landscape architects. With case study contributions from Kathryn Gustafson, Grant Associates, Peter Walker, BCA Landscape and many more Well done to all those involved we have picked up a few nice tips already! * Andy Thomson, Partner, BCA Landscape *
Visual Communication for Landscape Architecture looks great. I am going to put it on the books for the office list and think it would be really useful to bridge the gap between our landscape architects and our technicians, which is always a challenging part of a multi-disciplinary practice. * Helen Smith, Technical Manager, Landscape Architecture *
A rather excellent book arrived at our office today, which we have all thoroughly enjoyed looking at! Visual Communication for Landscape Architecture looks incredible, and a great resource for us in practice, let alone students. We are grateful to the authors for including some of our work. * Alistair Baldwin, Director, Alistair W Baldwin Associates *
Visual Communication for Landscape Architecture looks fantastic - I am very proud to be part of it! Bang on trend, current yet nodding to a bit of the Repton and Halprin. It's very cool and accessible - I also find the size very pleasing! The authors should be very happy with the end result - so much work obviously went into its creation. I am soon to give a presentation and the book will definitely be one of my props. * Hudson De Maeijer, Landscapes and Gardens *
What a wonderful book to aid students, it is very informative and so well presented. * Lady Arabella Lennox-Boyd, Arabella Lennox-Boyd Landscape and Architectural Design *
