About Victor Cohen

Victor Cohen, PharmD, BCPS, CGP received his B.Sc. Pharm form the Bouve' College of Pharmacy at Northeastern University in 1994 and his Pharm.D. from St. John Univesity in 1996. He completed a pharmacy practice residency at Miami VA Medical Center in 1996 and a specialty residency in Emergency Medicine/Toxicology at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, (NJ.) in 1997-98. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice in the Division of Pharmacy Practice at Arnold Marie Schwartz College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences at Long Island University in Brooklyn, NY and has held an appointment at Maimonides Medical Center where over the last 12 years he has worked as the Clinical Pharmacy Manager of the Department of Emergency Medicine.

Dr. Cohen's directs the Maimonides Medical Center, ASHP accredited Pharmacy Practice and Emergency Medicine Pharmacotherapy specialty residency programs. Dr. Cohen's research interests are in the area of Emergency Medicine Pharmacotherapy, Resuscitation and Toxicology, focusing on the role and value of the pharmacist in the emergency department, patient safety, geriatrics, anticoagulation, and infectious diseases pharmacotherapy. His research has resulted in the publication of nearly 15 journal articles, 3 book chapters, and over 20 research abstracts in addition to his writing of Safe and Effective Medication Use In the Emergency Department.
